the final of the WorldSkills Poland culinary competition
The WorldSkills Poland 2020 National qualification took place at the Polagra Fair on September 28 - 30 in Poznań. There were four competitions: confectionery, cooking, carving and service. The organizer of the elimination was the Foundation for the Development of the Education System.
One of the participants of the culinary competition was a
graduate of our school - Magdalena Kowalik. Magda competed with the
chefs from Wrocław, Łódź, Kielce, Zduńska Wola,
Gorzów, Rzeszów and with the representatives of
the Netherlands and Spain. The competition tasks were to prepare the
main course (main ingredient: corn chicken) and a dessert (obligatory
ingredients: shortcrust pastry, chocolate, pear, nut and parsley). The
participants had 3 hours to prepare the dishes. In addition, there was
a technical competition: julienne cutting. All the young chefs
represented a very high professional level. An international jury
assessed the organization, aesthetics, the way of preparing and serving
dishes, as well as the taste and visualization of the plate in
accordance with the highest requirements. For Magda, participation in
such a competition is an amazing experience that will certainly pay off
in the future. It is work with the best of the bests, meetings and
talking with the industry experts. We wish Magda many professional
successes!

Culinary workshop
On Saturday, December 1st 2018 there was a gastronomic workshop about Austrian cuisine and culture. Workshop were conducted by miss Agnieszka Kasprzyszyn and the participants were students preparing for a traineeship in Austria. Here’s a coverage form one of the students.
Tenerife
This year three groups of ten people went to Tenerife. The
internship took place from May to September. Trainees lived and worked
at the Tamaimo Tropical hotel in positions such as
receptionists, cooks, animators and waitresses. In their free time they
familiarised with the culture of this beautiful place.
THE THIRD GROUP’S EXPERIENCE
Everything began on 12 August 2018 but it’s not the whole
truth…
First, we had to take part in language courses (English, Spanish) and
we got to know some information about Tenerife. Then we had to pack all
our things to small bags. It was extremely difficult. Finally, we got
to the airport in Cracow and spent long 6 hours on the plane. We were
very excited.
After the landing, we went to our hotel. We left our baggage and went
to dinner and met with the manager. After that we did some sightseeing
and swam in the ocean.
The next day we had to go to work. We worked in groups. Two of us
worked at the reception desk, two girls worked as animators, two
friends worked in the kitchen, and the last group worked as
waiters and waitresses.
Our work wasn’t as easy as we had thought before, it was
extemely difficult. We had to learn many new things, cope with people
we didn’t know, and spoke English and Spanish.
Even though we were tired we were also happy because we had trips and
spare time. During the first weekend we went to Loro Park and we had a
lot of fun. We saw a lot of different animals and shows with dolphins,
killer whales and seals . It was the biggest attraction.
The second weekend we spent on the beach and in the ocean. It was
definitely relaxing, especially before the next working week.
On the third weekend we went to Siam Lark. It was something! It was the
biggest aguapark in Europe. We could try to slide many different water
chutes. It was the most breathtaking experience!
The last trip was very surprising for us. We were sailing and we had
the opportunity to see dolphins living wild. It was extremely fantastic
to see something like that.
During the last Saturday we had to pack all our things because the next
day we were leaving. It was very sad for us because we felt connected
with this place and the people we met.
This month was a great adventure for us. We learnt many new things, met
a lot of people, saw beautiful places and worked a lot with amazing
people. I hope I will visit this place again next year.
Agata Lukasczyk
Thank you, muchos gracias!
PORTUGAL – 2ND GROUP
Eight women: Victoria, Sara, Agata, Małgosia, Olivia, Emilia,
Karolina and Nikola together with Mr Arkadiusz Gniewek and his wife
Anna – in such a group we set off to conquer Portugal.
On 1st July 2018, we met in Tychy near the swimming pool and it was the
beginning of a journey into the unknown. At the point, we have already
known that this was going to be an unforgettable adventure. It did not
matter how many times we had the apprenticeships. Everyone tearfully
said goodbye to their families and friends, then only a journey to
Warsaw and Ryanair took us from Modlin Airport to Faro, Portugal.
The first thing we saw when we got off the plane was the blue sky. A
few moments later, after collecting our baggage, we met our guardian
– Philip, the representative of the organisation "Bragamob."
From
the airport, he took us directly to the village, which for a month has
become our home - Portimao. We got into our apartment and started
unpacking the suitcases, to be able to move as quickly as possible to
explore this beautiful town.
PORTUGAL – 1ST GROUP
As the first group, we started our Portuguese adventure with
Erasmus+. After a long journey we got to Portimao in Algarve, which
became our new home for a month.
On the first day, we visited our new work places: hotel Squash,
restaurant Mistral and Cantinho d'Pão Caseiro cafe and we
met
friendly workers.
During this month we have learned a lot of things such as improving our
professional English, learning the basics of Portuguese. We were
observing work of qualited Staff. We have learned how to work in group.
We were also making a lot of traditional dishes.
After a first week we went to yacht cruise Manguito along the coast of
Portugal. We had a chance to see the most popular cave Benagil.
In the next week we visited ”the end of the world”,
that
means cape of St. Vincent. It’s the most windy place, we had
ever
been. Then we stopped in Lagos to see the beautiful rock
formations.
In the next Saturday we visited Slide & Splash aquapark. That
was awesome! We had a lot of fun!
On the last Saturday we visited Zoomarine, where we saw a dolphin,
parrot and seal show.
This month was really amazing. We had a chance to meet Portuguese
culture and wonderfull people. It will stay in our memory forever.

SHARE YOUR SUCCESS - EDUINSPIRATIONS 2017: NOMINATION FOR THE
SCHOOL NO 7 IN TYCHY
Edinspiracje is a competition organized annually by the Foundation for the Development of the Education System. Nominations for the main prize, commonly referred to as the "Oskar" in the EU, are awarded to projects recognized for their outstanding quality, extremely valuable, which can be an example of good practice and inspiration for others.
Our school has been nominated for this award in the "Professional education" category - for the project "Teachers and students of catering and hospitality partners on the way to the professional championship". The project established cooperation with partner institutions from two countries of southern Europe, which allowed to organize foreign internships for 40 students from hotel and catering classes (in Portugal) and for 16 teachers (in Italy). It is worth noting that the selection of nominated institutions was made from over 700 institutions from all over the country, implementing various types of EU projects, and only 5 of them were finally nominated in the "Professional Education" category. It is also important that the institutions from which the nominees were nominated and awarded are not only schools, but also universities and foundations.
Our school was represented by the Headmistress - Joanna
Żebrowska (author of the project) and Mrs. Dorota Pardon (coordinator).
